Completed in 2018, Natalie’s role was a simple seeming one: design a massing concept. However, this project required merging two opposing programs: Fire Department, which is a beacon of safety for the community, and has physically very large components (trucks) to house; and Police, which often prefer to be protected from direct exposure, and only require human-scale elements. The complexity was enhance by the requirement to use Prefabricated Metal Building structure. PMB’s have many limitations on their shape and size, but this at first seemly impossible task resulted in a unique and totally appropriate solution.
