Honoring those who Serve

Simple Beauty

Completed while at Roth Sheppard Architects in 2020.

The Veterans Affairs Clinic in Albert Lea, MN honors its community by utilizing the historic local material: Brick, and blending the Architectural style and built orientation of the historic town center, with the mid-century highway where the site is located. The building is a simple one, but the bend in its form gives it a more dynamic and welcoming presence.

The vehicle drop-off canopy is a VA requirement, and we didn’t want this one to look ‘tacked-on’. Its form intersects with the body of the building creating layers of interested, but also practical design.
